Speed is the ultimate pursuit for many older players. Yet treating abrupt overspeed work as a harmless warm-up is a recipe for disaster.

Why the Mainstream Approach to Speed Falls Flat

Many programs promise immediate distance gains from swinging lightweight sticks as fast as possible. This advice ignores the physical realities of the mature recreational golfer. Golf-performance and physical-therapy sources describe the swing as a dynamic rotational movement that places substantial demands on the spine and joints. When older players suddenly force maximum speed, they expose unprepared tissues to massive stress.
